093 Palm Rattle - How fun these were to make. These petite percussion instruments come with their own seeds inside to create their soft sounds. They are soft on the hand & very lightweight. They can be used alone or to accompany other percussion such as Ipu Heke drums. They are made of a “people” gourd - named because this type is frequently used to create Kachinas or other art dolls. Here I have taken a palm motif that I pyro-etched on the gourd then added dye & paint. It is completed with an emerald gold, wooden ball handle. Dimensions are 10 x 4” weight 5 oz.
