Tambor de Mexico - The shekere is a West Africa percussion instrument that now appears in cultures around the world. It is played by gently striking the bottom and sides which activate the beads. This stylized rendition in soft patina has the colors of Mexico around the rim, handmade polymer beads & Fair-Trade wooden beads suspended on dyed nylon string. The gourd is pyro-etched, painted and dyed. It is a wonderful focal piece that could stand on its own or would make a great addition to a collection. It is completely sealed inside and out.
