I am but a visitor in this place called Maui – this paradise where inspiration is all around. I find great joy in creating something with my hands, maintaining the natural aesthetics of the gourd and infusing it with images of Hawaiian flora, fauna and marine life. Each gourd is a unique, hand-crafted art piece that will bring the island’s beauty into your home.
Helping to rebuild the cultural attachments to this island’s past is my way of giving back some of what Maui gives to me and my family. And to Maui I say, “mahalo nui loa!”

Jaz has historically mastered a vast compendium of media that includes fiber art, paper, clay, beading, tapestry and has now settled into gourd art. Her skills with color balance and design make her work a visual and tactile feast. I have found her work to be meticulously done with the eye of a magician. Though her work is oftentimes elegant and refined, she has created some pops of reverie too. One is transported into fantasy or real space to wander on one’s own.

I commissioned a gourd of a custom Halloween pumpkin design. There is an opening in the bottom of the gourd to place a light for illumination. The color is spectacular. No need to carve this fall - I have a beautiful, permanent work of art to display!
